Program Support

The Lakefield Oval Community Centre is a not for profit organization that was created to develop a publicly owned and operated recreation facility in Lakefield. The Oval owns the 13.5 acre site where 400 metre oval is situated along with the equipment required to build natural ice on the existing track each year. Adjacent to the track the Oval owns an equipment building to store the ice making equipment as well a warming hut and recreational skates that allows the Oval to offer free public skating during the winter season.

The Oval is able to offer this unique opportunity each winter and continue to work towards the ultimate goal of a completed community recreational facility at the Oval site through the on-going support of our sponsors as well as those companies and individuals who have donated to the Oval Project in the past.

The Oval is also made possible through the hard work of a number of individuals who volunteer their time each year. The Oval is always looking for new volunteers. Each year the Oval needs volunteers who are willing to be part of the crew that braves the elements to prepare the ice for skating. The Oval also stages a number of events each year and there is always a need for volunteers who like to help organizing and staging public events. Finally the Oval continues to move towards its ultimate goal of completing the Oval Project as it was original designed through the direction provided by the Oval’s Board of Directors and the organization needs volunteers who are willing to help oversee the Oval’s activities.

If you are willing to volunteer in any capacity or you would like to make a donation please contact Graham Wilkins at skate@ontariospeedskatingoval.com, call 705-652-7041 or download and complete the donation form. It can be faxed to 705-652-7986.
