OSSO_VERT_1C_RGBWelcome to Long Track Speed Skating in Lakefield!

Every winter the Lakefield Oval provides local skaters and speed skaters from across Ontario with the unique opportunity to skate outdoors on a 400-metre track of well-maintained outdoor ice. During the winter there are regular free public skating sessions, club practices, sessions for school groups and special events.

Skating at the Oval relies on efforts of the volunteers to create and clear the ice and on mother nature to provide cold weather and good skating conditions. Before you visit the Oval we suggest that you check this website or the Oval’s Facebook page for daily updates on ice conditions. There is also a road sign on the Lakefield Road at the new Water Tower entrance (across from Kawartha Lakes Construction).

The unique recreational opportunity provided by the Oval is entirely the result of the hard work of the Oval’s volunteers combined with the ongoing support of the Oval’s season sponsors. The Oval does not get funding for its winter programming from any level of government. Along with our community sponsors, the Oval Board appreciates donations from the individuals and families who use the facilities.

Please visit the Oval Activities Section, or view the Season Schedule.
